Ten frames are one of the top ten manipulatives that every elementary teacher should have!  I have written before about this great tool, but here I am highlighting some instructional videos.  Watch them for some fantastic ideas!

Be sure to see the other posts in this blog about ten frames.  Do a search for ten frames, number bonds and fact families.

Hi Dr. Nicki,
I was never introduced to 10 frames, so this is my tutorial. The K-2 teachers are always wanted something “new” to help teach fact families in a fun way. I will pass these along with the other 10 frame resources. Plus, I really like seeing other teachers in action. Thank you.

Often teachers skip the 10 frame because they don’t really know what to do with it. But, it is such a cornerstone of developing the concept of anchor numbers. There are so many activities out there to just practice 10 frame concepts over and over.

Hello Michelle,
This is so true. I am really trying to encourage more use of the five frame and the ten frame because of the potential to teach basic number facts. Now, especially with the new common core coming, we have to make sure that the students really understand 5 and 10 as major anchors for basic facts and eventually mental math.

Thanks for commenting!
