# An interesting math reference sheet!

Here is a good reference sheet! I like this sheet. Be cautious with teaching students to depend on key words though because all the research says don’t use them.

Happy Mathing,

Dr Nicki,

Help, Please explain: “Be cautious with teaching students to depend on key words though because all the research says don’t use them.”

Hi Frank,

Key words are dangerous in math because often times students don’t THINK, they just see a key word and do an operation. See this post that talks about why the research says not to use the Key Word Strategy for word problems.

Dr. Nicki,

Thank you for the reference!

You really are the Best!

Maybe he means that they should learn the correct terms.

Yes students should learn the language of math. But, they shouldn’t just see a word and do a specific operation without thinking about the context of the problem.
