Everyday words or Math Language: What do you use in whole class and small group discussion?

Math is a language!  If we want our kids to speak it, we have to teach it!  Here is a great place to get started! I love this article because it makes it very clear- the difference between everyday language and math words!

Think about this:

Everyday Language or Math Words

Split    or     Divide

Take Away   or   Subtract

Same     or    Congruent

What do you SPEAK in your math class?

Happy Mathing,

Dr. Nicki
