Feedback Matters for Math Achievement!

Posted on January 5, 2013. Filed under: Uncategorized |

Did you know that there is a direct connection between the type of feedback you give and student progress?  Feedback that just checks if it is correct or incorrect actually has no positive impact on student learning.  However when you provide correct answers – the gain increases….When you explain what went wrong and right… even more so  and WAIT….when you actually explain and give the student a chance to retake the assessment until they get it correct…. effect size is 1.13!  What?  We shouldn’t just teach and move on!  Absolutely not!  What are you doing with those chapter tests?
