Assessment! Why it Matters
Assessment matters. We know that. But did you know that “The effect of assessment for learning on student achievement is some FOUR TO FIVE TIMES GREATER than the effect of reduced class size!… “While all students show achievement” Guess who showed the largest gains…. “THE Lowest Achievers!” ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!
Student progress because of formative assessment is “AMONGST THE LARGEST EVER REPORTED FOR EDUCATIONAL INTERVENTIONS!” (Black and William, 1998).
