5 Ways to Help Parents Help their Students in Math: Part 1 (Parent Math Handbooks)

Parents are struggling with the CCSSM. Sometimes it seems like they don’t know, what to know or understand why we are teaching in this way.  We have to support their learning curve so that they can support their children.  In this series I will discuss how to help your parents help their children.

Way 1: Create a Parent Math Handbook

Why: Because this way parents have a reference

When: Give it out at the beginning of the year…Maybe during back to school night

What: A step by step handbook explaining the different types of algorithms, strategies, models and tools that the students will be using at each grade level
